World Immunisation Week 24-30 April 2026

World Immunisation Week (24-30th April) is a global reminder of one of the most powerful health breakthroughs we have, vaccines.Over the last 50 years, vaccines have saved more than 150 million lives. Immunisation helps protect people of all ages from serious, preventable diseases, and it supports healthier communities by reducing illness, hospitalisation, and long term complications.

In 2026, the theme is for every generation, vaccines work. This years theme aims to promote how vaccines have protected people, families, and communities for many generations.

What you can do during World Immunisation Week:

  • Check your immunisations and see if you are due for any boosters or catch up doses.
  • Encourage family members to do the same, especially children, older relatives, and anyone at higher health risk.
  • Use trusted information when sharing health advice online. When in doubt, refer people to official guidance.
  • Learn about Hepatitis B protection and why vaccination can matter for lifelong liver health, which is a focus raised by Australian health advocates during International Immunisation Week.

World Immunisation Week is a chance to celebrate progress while focusing on what still needs to improve: more coverage, fewer barriers, and better access for every community. If immunisation reaches everyone, it does not just save lives, it strengthens the everyday systems we all rely on.
