Undisturbed wound healing allows the body to handle the majority of the wound healing process itself, after good wound bed preparation, creating undisturbed wound healing.

The other alternative is to change dressings frequently – often daily – which can interrupt the healing process, and increase the risk of contamination , it can also cause unnecessary pain and trauma to the patient compared with undisturbed healing. While undisturbed healing is not appropriate for every patient and every wound type, we believe it offers a good starting point when questioning whether existing dressing change protocols are fit for patient or purpose.
