Betadine Antiseptic Ointment is effective for the management and prevention of infections on minor wounds and abrasions, and able to treat minor skin infections. It promptly eliminates all bacteria and fungi related to the skin such as around the nails and cold sores. Prior to applying Betadine Ointment, ensure the wound is clean as the active ingredient (povidone-iodine) can react with blood or pus leading to ineffectiveness of the ointment. Apply the brown viscous ointment directly to the affected area two to three times a day and may be bandaged after use.
Do not use ointment for a long period and to large areas of the skin (e.g., no more than 10% of total body surface and no longer than 14 days) unless advised by health practitioner. Do not use in children below 2 years of age
